Richard Commey To Battle Yardley Cruz On August In New York

Ghana’s Richard Commey (26-2, 23 KOs) will take on Mexico’s Yardley Amenta Cruz (24-10, 14 KOs) on August 4th at Nassau Colisuem in New York.

The Ghanaian was originally billed to fight on the undercard of the unification bout between Mikey Garcia (WBC World lightweight champion) and Robert Easter (IBF World lightweight champion) on July 28th.

Commey-Cruz battle will be on the undercard of Devon Alexander and Andre Berto.

Commey, who is IBF’s number one contender will take on the winner between Garcia vs Easter.

The James Town native earned the shot to challenge for the World Title for the second time after destroying Alejandro Luna in seventh round last March.

His first World Title fight was two years ago, but he lost via a controversial decision to both Robert Easter Jnr and Shafikov

Cruz in his last four bouts has won two and lost two and should serve as a good challenge for the Ghanaian pugilist who is aspiring to win the world title this year.
