International Boxing Federation’s lightweight world champion Richard Commey has been nominated in the category of Sports, as the “Man Of The Year” 2019 in the EMY Africa awards to be staged on fathers day.
The EMY Africa Awards is an annual Father’s Day related event that celebrates personalities who have contributed their quota to change, progress and continue to be symbols of stability and role models in the community.
The nominees in the category are Thomas Partey, a member of the Black Stars team and Athletico Madrid Club based in the Spanish capital of Madrid. The others are Christopher Forrest and Ezekiel Ansah.
This is the 4th edition of the annual EMY Africa Awards which has honoured astute personalities from Africa over the years with the last notable winner being Togbe Afede XIV.

This year’s category includes Man of the Year – Ghana, Man of the Year – Africa, Woman of the Year – Ghana, Woman of the Year – Africa, Lifetime Achievement Award, Diasporan Award, Citizen Ghana Award, Osagyefo Pan African Peace Award, Media Excellence Award, Young Achiever – Male, Young Achiever – Female, Men Group/Club of the Year, Continental Icon Award, Humanitarian Award, The Guardian Award (Mentorship and Leadership Award), The Green Fingers Award (Man of the Year – Agriculture) and Man of the Year – Technology.
The others are Asclepian Award (Man of the Year – Health), The Rig Award (Man of the Year – Oil & Gas), Magnate Award (Man of the Year – Business), Man of the Year – Style, Designer of the Year, Man of Courage Award, The Pav Ansah Communicator Award, Man of the Year – Entertainment, Discovery of the Year, Special Recognition Award and Man of the Year – Sports to which Commey is nominated.
Ghana’s sole world champion at the moment Richard Commey is set to make his first defense against Mexican Raymundo Beltran at the Pechanga Resort & Casino, Temecula, California in the USA on Friday, 28th June, 2019 which is to be aired on ESPN.
