Louis John “Lou” DiBella Jr., Founder and CEO of DiBella Entertainment, promoters of Ghana’s  Richard Commey the reigning IBF world champion has refuted the populist arguments that Commey is avoiding Lomachenko but rather resolved to beat the Ukranian.

“Commey is not avoiding Lomachenko just trying to beat him.” Dibella stated.

Mike Coppinger of The Ring, first broke the news of Commey’s injury after his second round demolishing of Russia’s Isa Chaniev in Frisco, Texas on February 2nd, 2019.

Later it was confirmed by Doctors and the fight was ruled off till a later date when Commey has fully recuperated.

But some felt that the Ghanaian was only avoiding unification battle with the current WBA and WBO champion, Ukranian Vasily Lomachenko.

Truth be told, who ever signed for a unification battle between Vasily Lomachenko and Richard Commey was too ambitious to say the least. Commey would not have enjoyed the title as he should and understood the importance of carrying the belt and knowing that he carries the spirit and ambitions of a whole nation including kids who look up to you.

Now the newly crowned IBF lightweight world champion is fully ready for his first defense and then the Lomachenko challenge as reiterated by his promoters.

Lomachenko is set to fight former WBA world lightweight champion Anthony Crolla on April 16th at the Staples Center, Los Angeles, California, USA and  hopefully after the bout Ghana’s Richard Commey.
