Ghana’s current International Boxing Federation world lightweight titlist Richard Commey is all set and given a clean bill of health to continue his title defense.
He revealed this via a tweet which he tagged BoxingGhana.Com, disclosing;
“Boom! Just had the all clear from the Doctor here in New York. Back in the Gym tomorrow looking to defend my IBF world lightweight title in June.” The Jamestown native retorted.
Richard Commey left to the United States to continue his progress under Andre Rozier and to stage his first defense of the strap he won on February 2nd in Frisco, Texas when he dispatched Russian Isa Chaniev via a round 2TKO in a blockbuster encounter.
The Ghanaian sustained a finger injury during his fight against Chaniev in the process ruled out any defense against the so called pound-for-pound king Vasyl Lomachenko who is scheduled to fight this month against Anthony Crolla.
Richard Commey’s possible opponents could include Masayoshi Nakatani of Japan who is currently rated 3rd from the latest rankings. There is also Teofimo Lopez of the United States, Emiliano Marsili of Italy and George Kambosos Jr of Australia. Currently the 3rd and 2nd are not yet rated.
