Ghana’s IBF world lightweight champion Richard Commey was at the ring side during the blockbuster encounter early this morning which saw Gennady Golovkin pushed all the way by a resilient Sergiy Derevyanchenko to secured a world title again via a unanimous decision.
Richard Commey was seen in the company of Manchester United and English football legend Wayne Rooney and other known stars including famous actor Wesley Snipes.
The Ghanaian who is fast building a global brand with his humility and ring exploits extended an invitation to Rooney for his next bout when he puts his IBF lightweight title on the line against Honduran – American youngster Teofimo Lopez for the opportunity to unify the titles with Lomachenko next year 2020.
“Had a great night watching the fights tonight and chatting with football legend Wayne Rooney- hopefully you can come to my next fight here at MSG also on 14th Dec where I defend my world title.”He said
“Shame my good friend and training mate Sergiy Derevyanchenko didn’t get the result as I felt he won. Hopefully there is a rematch for him as he’ll be back.” Arguably the biggest-puncher in the lightweight division currently said.
Vasiliy Lomachenko touted the final hurdle to unification play out is in the offing next year but the Ghanaian hard puncher is not looking past Teofimo Lopez as he seeks to stake a claim and register his intent come December 14, 2019.
