Richard Commey’s biggest nemesis to his world title ambition Isa Chaniev, is rated number 3 in both the WBO and IBF latest world rankings released last week.
Ghana’s world title hopeful Richie Commey maintained his position in the latest rankings as number 7 in the World Boxing Council and number one in the International Boxing Federation ratings.
Commey who is set to face Chaniev on the 2nd of February in Frisca Texas in a world title decider, remain Ghana’s clearest shot at the world title at the moment.
Also on the ranking, Ghana’s sole heavyweight contender Richard Nii Lartey Harrison is ranked 14 by the WBO.
In the Super Welterweight/Jr. Middleweight (154 lbs), Patrick Allotey of Ghana and equally under Cabic management is rated 13th in the ranking.
Ghana’s Raphael Mensah is also ranked 9th in the Super Featherweight/Jr. Lightweight (130 lbs).
Super Bantamweight/Jr. Featherweight(122 lbs), former world champion Jesse Magdaleno is now the number one contender for the WBC title whiles Ghana’s Isaac Dogboe is now occupying number five in the WBO, where Emanuel Navarrete is the current champion. Wasiru Mohammed is also rated 14th in the same category.
In the Bantamweight (118 lbs), Ghana’s only Duke in boxing, Duke Micah is ranked 13th in the WBC and Number one in the WBO whiles his compatriot Joseph ‘KingKong’ Agbeko is ranked 4th in the WBO.
2019 is going to be a great year for Ghana boxing with the likes of Commey, Duke Micah, Harrison Lartey, Wasiru Mohammed, Patrick Allotey, Isaac Dogboe, Emmanuel Tagoe, Raphael Mensah, Frederick Lawson, Robert Quaye and Obodai Sai all in contention for the world straps.
