Event MC of the year 2021 Nathaniel Attoh

The Ghana Event Awards has rewarded Nathaniel Attoh as the best Event master of ceremony (MC)of the year 2021 in the male category during its awards night at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel last Saturday, October 16.

The boxing ring announcer who has over the years been at the centre of the square ring of the sweet science was voted as the Event MC of the year (2021) while he was still on duty serving boxing fans across the country and beyond from the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel.

Being recognized and given the nod every time in big fight nights is a clear indication of how he’s being leaned upon to deliver with style as far as Ghana Boxing is concerned. Receiving a National Award where votes were accumulated across the length and breadth of the country shows how valuable he is to the nation.

Nathaniel Attoh who doubles as a Sports Journalist for Joy FM took to his social media handles to express his gratitude to the award planners (Ghana Event Awards), voters and stakeholders.

“During the weekend at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel Accra, the Ghana Event Awards named me the Event MC of the Year (Male).

I am grateful to God for the continuous strength and inspiration to keep delivering varied event genres consistently at topmost quality. I also share this with my wife and daughters who are always denied a father and husband when I have to be away for hours behind the mic and on the stage. I am also grateful to every corporate institution, event organizer/planner, stage manager, agency, sound engineer and above all every member of every audience I have served. The constructive feedback and the plaudits from close circle friends and groups have also kept me strong. Tons of gratitude also go to the Ghana Event Awards judging faculty and the voting public.

This is surely a big responsibility to keep my craft up there and maintain international standards the Ghanaian way. God bless.

I remain Citizen Attoh – Your Master MC”

The Event MC of the year, equally appreciated the boxing fraternity

“Hello boxing family and trust we are doing well. I thank the GHANA BOXING SUPPORTERS UNION for all the support everytime I’m in the ring announcing fights.”

The hard work of Nathaniel Attoh is not just noticed by his fellow citizens, but also by his role model and Sports/Entertainment Hall of Fame boxing announcer Michael Buffer popular known for the phrase “Let’s get Ready to Rumble!”.

Michael Buffer responded to a tweet put up by Nathaniel in March this year after he had announced the first major boxing promotion in Ghana for this year in the midst of Covid-19 restrictions, on March 6, Ghana’s 64th Independence.

“Looking quite splendid Nathaniel!! I’m so glad for you the fans and the fighters that Ghana boxing has returned again in Ghana! Some of my all-time favourites come from Ghana, Ike Quartey, Joshua Clottey & the legendary Azumah Nelson,” Buffer on Nathaniel’s twitter handle @niiattoh5

Nathaniel, who has announced most of the biggest fight nights in the country responded to Buffer’s tweet

“I’m greatly humbled to be recognized by the legendary Michael Buffer, a man who has set a global standard by which many will be marked in the center of the ring.”

Attoh’s first meeting with the globally-acclaimed ring announcer was in August 2006 at the forecourt of the Madison Square Garden in New York while he was covering the Ike Quartey versus Vernon Forrest bout as a reporter for the Daily Graphic.

“Michael Buffer stood in the middle and announced the boxers one after as they took to the scales. I was in the midst of the journalists and photographers positioning themselves across to get the best shots from the weight in. I said to myself that’s the man. Unfortunately I didn’t walk up to him to say hi. I was focused more on getting my content on Ike Quartey to send to the Graphic newsroom back in Accra. I just had a feeling Michael Buffer will happen later in the future,” he told myjoyonline.com.

We at BoxinGhana.com joins to celebrate this award with you and say, CONGRATULATIONS!
