QUEENSBERRY’S SENSATION: SETH GYIMAH AKA FREEZY MACBONES HITS THE SPOTLIGHT

So a boxing friend in the United Kingdom alerted me to pay a particular attention to one Freezy MacBones, a Ghanaian native, whom he calls an “exciting boxer.”

Well, I decided to honour it because of the Ghanaian interest. I started to dig a bit into this so called Ghanaian with such an interesting name as “Freezy MacBones”and here you are;

Whiles a big upset graced the world of boxing when highly rated world title contender Joe Joyce lost to unknown Chinese Olympian Zhilei Zhang via a round 6 knockout, something special was brewing on the undercards, smoking out the bursting desire of Ghanaian born Seth Gyimah famed “Freezy MacBones” with some exciting Mike Tyson – like display of boxing skills in his second professional bout to dispatch nemesis Darryl Sharp via a unanimous decision.

Of course, Freezy had made his ring debut a month earlier with a sweeping knockout on CJ Wood.

Seth Gyimah alias Freezy MacBones is Ghanaian by birth who moved to the United Kingdom in 2015 in search of greener pastures. He began his amateur career in Loughborough junction, a relatively deprived area south of London.

As a naturalized British, Seth Gyimah only began boxing six years ago after arriving from Ghana in 2.

Rumour has it that he knocked out a known big heavyweight during a sparring session and hence catching the sudden eyeballs.

“Life is so funny I still remember when I came to London for the first time .. I was stranded, couldn’t speak good English. A whole lot happened and I ended up sleeping outside. Now I’m on live @btsport @Queensberry“

He had posted on his handle when I first visited, indeed that caught my attention so I decided not to engage him for now, until I have completely finished my research on him.

Representing the light heavyweight division just like our very own Joshua Buatsi, the bulky Ghanaian seems to command some appreciable numbers and respect in terms of fan base and has worked his way into promotional syndicate “Queensberry” bankrolled by Frank Warren.

With a record of 2 fights , one by way of knockout, six rounds of professional boxing action and a solid 50 percent knockout ratio, the much touted ‘Mike Tyson of British boxing’ is a typical slugger.

For many connoisseurs of the game, the 33 year-old Ghana-born boxer would be a force to reckon with.

But how did “Freezy MacBones” attract so much attention in such a short space of time drawing out the interest in rapper “50 Cent” and Floyd Mayweather posting his fight videos.

Well it all started when he mounted the ring against a man significantly bigger, but soon had him knocked out, with his head resting on the bottom rope.

The ‘peekaboo’ style fighter shot to fame with connoisseurs of the game inquiring about him. His debut sufficed later.

So far so good for the British Ghanaian brawler and the sky is the limit as the only obstacle on his path may perhaps be his age, but like the adage goes, “age is just but a number.”

But how far does he intend to go? What are his medium to long term goals, how does he want to be remembered, what is his motivation etc…these are the questions I intend to put before him when we conduct our exclusive interview in my next write up, so watch the space.
