With his professional pugilism debut on 2017-04-29, Prince Oko Nartey (6-0, 5KOs) is one of Ghana’s brightest prospect in the middle-weight division.

In his 6 bouts journey of 21 rounds of boxing which has translated into a percentage ratio of 80, the Somanya born southpaw is gradually building a reputation for himself with his slick counter punching and aggressiveness.

His personal attention to branding and marketing makes him unique amongst his peers. In his short boxing career he has clocked a reputation of KO’s , his recent victim was Kofi Johnson, an extremely aggressive fighter when he KOed him in the fourth round of their scheduled eight rounder.

BoxingGhana caught up with him for a dialogue:

QUE: TELL ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR BOXING CAREER

ANS: I’m Prince Oko Nartey, a young ambitious kid from Somanya. Well, growing up I use to watch boxing but then being a footballer was my dream until I watched Joshua Clottey vs Manny Pacquiao fight. And that inspired me into taking up boxing. That fight motivated me to start my boxing career. Since then I try to join so many Boxing gyms but I wasn’t accepted, so somewhere 2016 I told myself that don’t give up on this new dream and then I started training at bridge Boxing Gym and God being so Great here we are now and I believe very soon am going to be the best world southpaw ever seen from Ghana and a world champion in the super middle weight division.

QUE: YOU DEFEATED KOFI JOHNSON, WAS THAT YOUR BEST OR TOUGHEST FIGHT?

ANS: Kofi Johnson wasn’t tough if I may say and I believe I did very well in this fight.

QUE: WHAT IS YOUR TARGET FOR THE YEAR 2019?

ANS: Looking forward to greater opportunities this 2019. This is just the 2nd month of the year and I’m very grateful for how am starting this new year, I believe God’s plan is the greatest so am just following that. #PONBOXING

QUE: A MESSAGE FOR YOUR FANS/ BOXING WORLD ?

ANS: For my fans, I really appreciate the support and the love, I need their prayers too as well. They should keep supporting PONBOXING, Great things are coming, it’s all Love and Respect.

After his 3rd round TKO of Joseph Mingle in his debut win, the young promising fighter has gone ahead to beat  Odartey Lamptey, Richard Ashong, David Ehizojie and Joseph Kotey.

His most recent showing against Kofi Johnson, he scored an impressive fourth- round KO win.

PRINCE OKO NARTEY………A BOXER TO WATCH IN THE FUTURE.
