Main sponsors of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana awards MTN yesterday presented an amount of 50,000 Ghana cedis to the organizers of this year’s 43rd MTN-SWAG awards ceremony to be held at the Accra International conference centre on the 4th of April 2018.
The ceremony which is geared to reward astute writers of the noble profession of sports was held at the media centre of the telecommunication giant’s offices at North Ridge.
Mr Samuel Koranteng, corporate services executive, spoke on behalf of mtn And congratulated SWAG for its achievements thus far
“On behalf of the CEO and the Executive Committee of MTN Ghana, we wish to congratulate SWAG for your achivements thus far, but even more importantly, for your continued commitment to celebrating the gallant sports men and women who make this nation proud.
As the main sponsors for the SWAG awards for several years, MTN is happy once again to lend a hand to SWAG who have consistently shown their commitment to sports development in Ghana.
We are proud to say that through our continued support to SWAG , the awards event has grown from strength to strength. The success of the awards erceremony is of tremendous importance to us. As a result, we have over the years shared ideas on how we can make it even greater.” He noted.
Mr Koranteng further admonished the leadership and the organizers to leverage on social media to further enhance and propagate the good works.
“It is our hope that the organizers will continue to seek innovative ways to make this year’s (awards) even more memorable.
We also wish to see a lot of innovation in sports reportage. We have on several occasions spoken about how we can take advantage of the digital tools available to make our story telling and reporting more exciting.
Social media is one such powerful resource in this regard.
It is our humble suggestion that SWAG develop or revamp it’s social media platforms to stay intune with the new forms of communication and to project all sporting disciplines.
We believe that more interest and excitement can be created with the use of social media platforms to expose the nominees and enhance the event and sports in general.” He concluded.
This year’s 43rd MTN-SWAG awards promises to be very competive and interesting as reiterated by the organizers and stakeholders alike.
