PODCAST MAGAZINE BOXING SHOW ” BOXING COURT” TRIGGERS WBO AFRICA TITLE FEUD BETWEEN MARIOS MATAMBA AND FAISAL ABUBAKARI
Podcast Magazine Boxing Show”Boxing Court” Triggers WBO Africa Title Feud Between Marios Matamba and Faisal Abubakari
It was a pretty intense moment when the camp of Faisal Abubakar locked horns with their opposite side in former holder of the WBO Africa belt Marios Matamba on the popular podcast magazine show “boxing court” hosted by Sammy ofosuhene.
The show, which went on recess, is back with a bang in its maiden edition as both camps did not hold anything back registering the point. Instead, they went after each other in a hotly contested argument.
Background
It all began when Marios Matamba posted this message on his wall calling out the current WBO Africa champion Faisal Abubakari.
“I am after Faisal Abubakari. stop hiding from me. I am coming for the WBO Africa Title that you are holding. A Champion should be fighting a champion, and I am the king of Africa in the division. Sign the contract. I am waiting for you.” Matamba posted.
But the message and its publicity on Boxing Court did not sit well with Pricelesss Promotions and management company, management of Faisal Abubakari. The head of the managerial outfit responded together with his boxer in an intense fashion, stating;
” How do you go around calling out someone when you have not even submitted an official contract nor made any intentions but yet go out there and create the impression that we are afraid to take up the fight”?
In any case, you don’t even qualify to fight us because you have been dormant for the past two years and not even ranked in the WBO.” retorted priceless Promotions.
But Marios Matamba was simply adamant laying a claim that he is the best in Africa and has only been away for just a year and that, currently, there is no better boxer than himself in whole of the continent.
“They don’t want to fight me. That is why they are asking for that big purse of 30,000 dollars.”
The host Sammy ofosuhene quickly quizzed team Matamba, why they refused a similar circumstance even far better conditions in 2019 against a Ghanaian boxer in Robert Quaye who was then managed by Don’s Promotions.
In response, Matamba revealed that the money offered at that time was not acceptable, more like the same scenario.
What remains clear is that there is no offer nor any contract offered by any camp, and that talks are yet to commence contrary to the initial perception.
Secondly, the two boxers are ready to fight, but would it be fair to WBO Africa to look past the already ranked mandatory opponents and grant the fight to a dormant boxer not even ranked?
