Ghana’s Rafael Mensah (31-0, 23 KOs) and Puerto Rico’s Alberto Machado (19-0, 16 KOs) made weight and they are ready for Saturday’s war at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, USA.
The two boxers on Friday weighed 130Ibs. At stake for the clash is Machado’s WBA World super featherweight strap.
Machado will be making his first defense of his belt against Mensah, who is mandatory challenger.
If Mensah wins, he will becomes Ghana’s ninth world champion after D.K. Poison, Azumah Nelson, Nana Yaw Konadu, Ike Quartey, Alfred Kotey, Joseph Agbeko, Joshua Clottey and Isaac Dogboe.
Mensah becomes the fourth Ghanaian to fight for the World Title this year after Habib Ahmed, Maxwell Awuku and Isaac Dogboe.
The fight will be on the undercard of Jaime Munguia (29-0, 25 KOs), 21, of Mexico, making his first defense against mandatory challenger and former titlist Liam Smith (26-1-1, 14 KOs), 29, of England.
