Ghana’s Rafael Mensah met Alberto Machado from the Puerto Rico for the first time in a press conference on Thursday ahead of their blockbuster on Saturday.
No. 1 contender Mensah (31-0, 23 KOs) will challenge Machado (19-0, 16 KOs) for the latter’s WBA World super featherweight at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas.
The upcoming fight will be on the undercard of Jamie Munguia and Liam Smitth. Munguia will be making his first defense of his WBO World super welterweight against the Smith.
The fight will be live on HBO Sports.
If Mensah, will becomes Ghana’s ninth world champion after D.K. Poison, Azumah Nelson, Nana Yaw Konadu, Ike Quartey, Alfred Kotey, Joseph Agbeko, Joshua Clottey and Isaac Dogboe.
