Ghana’s Habib Ahmed received a hero’s welcome despite losing to WBO World super middleweight champion Gilberto Ramirez last Saturday.
Ahmed who failed to win Ghana’s eighth World title after losing via TKO in round 6 Ramirez in USA arrived in Ghana on Tuesday night with his trainer, Ofori Asare and promoter, Anthony Kermah and he was given a hero’s welcome by his fans.
Fans numbering close to 400 besieged the arrival hall of the Kotoka International Airport to welcome the 27 year-old hard puncher.
From the airport, Ahmed was taken through the streets of Bukom, Akoto Lante, Agbado before arriving at James Town, where he lives.
‘I’m overwhelmed with the number of fans i just came out to meet, they have really showed love,” he said.
“For me it will motivate me to do more, imagine i came with the title, i don’t know what would have happen, i thank them for their support and i will never disappoint them when i get the chance to fight at the World stage again.”
