The Maverick Boxing Manager (Dauda Fuseni ), the manger of Patrick “Mallet” Okine storms Namibia with Teamokine to face Jeremiah Nakathila for the WBO Super Featherweight African title.
This is a fight which is close to call on the merits of the records of the boxers and promises to be an exciting bout. It is an undercard fight promoted by MTC Boxing Academy of Namibia with Walter Kautondonkwa (current WBO Middleweight African title holder) with Billi Faucundo Godoy an Argentine as the main bout.
Nakathila is the title holder for the WBO Super Featherweight Title Africa and ranked 5th in the WBO world ranking. He mounts the ring with a record of 15 fights, 14 wins, 10 by way of KO and 1 loss. Has a reach advantage coming into this fight and tipped as favourite to retain his title.
Patrick “Mallet Okine on the other hand comes in with an impressive record of 23 fights 19 wins, 16 by way of KO, 1 draw and 3 losses. Mallet comes in with superior rounds of boxing of 123 to that of 57 of Nakathila. Obviously ” Mallet” is more experience and expected to go into this fight with close ranged fight in any part of the ring and very cagey.
Nakathila has stamina problems and team Okine should go into the ring with a plan of working him from the first round to the last minute of the last round. “Mallet” must also guard against dropping of guards and prevent Nakathila from leading the fight with jabs.
Pound for pound exchanges occasionally at short range will be an advantage.
Patrick should not give the opportunity for Nakathila to lead the fight with jabs since he has the height advantage. Go in for the body shots and the overhead hooks to ware him down. Like I said this fight can go either ways but strict adherence to the strategy like the above, victory is assured.
I have no doubt that Dauda Fuseni who has handled Patrick Okine as sole manager from 2009 have come a very long way and gained experience over the period when he parted ways with Abdul Razak Yakubu will deliver the goods for Ghana.
