Oleksandr Usyk prefers to fight either Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder

Current unified WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight champion Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk has reiterated his desire to fight Deontay Wilder should his possible unification match up with Fury fail to materialized.

“We’ll see. I don’t want to make empty statements. I could still box with Fury or with Wilder, but that’s where my interest ends.” the undefeated two weight world champion Usyk said.

He {Fury} wants to fight against me. He wants people to talk about him, “He hasn’t retired yet; it’s just a game – ‘I’m leaving boxing, ‘I’m coming back.’ He still wants to earn money.

“Tyson Fury loves to talk. All of that blah blah blah.” said Usyk.

Usyk has maintained his commitment to unify the belts but conditioned the fight date to be set to next year 2023 with the reason of healing his wounds sustained in the fight against Joshua.

But the comment did not sit well with Tyson Fury who took to social media to voiced his concerns;

“Usyk, middleweight, you say that you want the WBC [belt], and it’s held by Gypsies. It’s held by Gypsies. It’s held by ‘The Gypsy King’, and it’s held tightly, grasped tight,” said Tyson Fury on Twitter.

“You said that you want to fight me after you beat the bodybuilder [Anthony Joshua]. You called me out on television, and now you’re being a little b***, a p*** boy, running, hiding, saying you got injuries. You ain’t got no injuries. You had a sparring contest. Get out and fight in December. It doesn’t matter if it’s December, April, or August next year.”  Tyson Fury stated.

It is unclear who is stalling a possible negotiation on the unification battle since both boxers are willing to make the fight premised on the fight purse at least to Tyson Fury.
