Obodai Sai returns January 22 versus John Akrugu in Commonwealth Boxing Council(CBC) eliminator
Ghana’s Obadai Sai is set to mount the ring for the first time since his debacle split decision draw with Mardochee Kuvesa Katembo, a Congolese native based in South Africa at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, Accra, Ghana on Friday 9, August 2019.
Promotional syndicate Dons Boxing Promotions are ready to set the tone for the new year 2021 in a highly packed tripple header Commonwealth eliminators, billed for Saturday the 22nd of January at the Seconds Out Boxing Gymnaseum in Accra-Ghana.
The first of the three encounters sees the birthday boy, former holder of the Commonwealth title and the current WBO Africa champion Obadai Sai as he entertains John Akrugu (16-6, 15KOs). The winner will fight the champion in the United Kingdom.
For many, this is only a ‘warm-up’ fight for the Ghanaian to shake-off his ring rust since seeming inactivity in the whole 2020.
Nicknamed ‘the Miracle Sai,’ the Ghanaian still entertains a total record 39 career fights, 35 victories, 26 of those wins recorded by way of knockout with just 3 defeats and a solitary draw.
