OSHOBA BACK IN ACTION
▪️ The Yoruba Hurricane defends WBC silver title against Argentine opponent tonight in the UK.
Nigeria’s Elizabeth Oshoba aka The Yoruba Hurricane returns to the ring tonight in England to make the first defence of her WBC featherweight silver title against Argentine’s Augustina Rojas aka La Amazona in a 10-round fight.
The unbeaten Oshoba (7-0, 4 KOs) is favoured to overcome Rojas (8-7-1) in her quest to eventually fight unified world champion, Puerto Rico’s Amanda Serrano, the IBF, WBA, WBO and IBO world champion.
“My ambition is to win the WBC world title and then challenge Amanda Serrano for the undisputed title,” Oshoba told me in a phone chat after destroying Italy’s Michel Braga in January this year in Copenhagen when she stopped in the hitherto unbeaten Italian boxer who dropped to 6-1 after losing to Oshoba, now based in Bristol under manager Sean Murray of Prosperity Management.
