“Never Give Up Is My Motto” says Female Boxer Faruiza Osman

Faruiza Osman, a female member of the Ghana National Boxing Team, the Black Bombers says she is determined to qualify for the next Olympic Games if given the opportunity.

After failing to seal through the African Qualifier in Dakar, Senegal in February, where she was beaten by a point due to inexperience, she says it was her first outing as an amateur and hopes to perform better in her next assignment.

The welterweight boxer told Yours Truly, the Covid-19 has really worried many sportsmen and women, especially boxers planning for the World  Olympic Qualifier in Paris, France, but as lives are more precious, they just have to wait till the coronavirus pandemic is over.

“I love to train and I want to achieve something as a boxer, I want to go to the Olympic Games or turn professional if I do not get the opportunity to enter the military, where I would love to work” she said.

“Many people wonder when they hear such a nice girl is a boxer, but I don’t want to be idle, I want to make name for myself and my nation” she added.

She thanked her three coaches in the national team, Dr.Ofori Asare, Lartekwei Lartey and Akpenator, who has been supporting her financially.

Faruiza Osman who has now attracted the media in Ghana appealed to corporate Ghana to support boxers and boxing because they are capable of reaping results.

She noted that boxing has given Ghana 10 world champions, while football which takes the entire sports budget is always disappointing the nation.

“Yes, If companies sponsor boxers, we can achieve more laurels, and I want to appeal to the government to take the Black Bombers on tour to gain exposure and experience we are capable of making Ghana great”she added.
