Like a volcanic eruption, something special is building up in the famous Bronx Boxing Gym in Jamestown – Accra, a citadel of hope and stardom that has produced great athletes in the art of pugilism.

The likes of Frederick Lawson, Richard Commey, Duke Micah and even Braimah Kamoko alias Bukom Banku all took their turns as far as the Bronze gym is concerned.

This much stated, I would like to introduce to you Ghana’s next boxing icon in the making nicknamed ‘the punisher,’ the most preferred boxer in Jamestown, please meet Nathaniel Kpakpo Allotey.

Nathaniel  Kpakpo Allotey, Indeed you heard the name right. In boxing there are four generally accepted styles that are used to define fighters.

These are the swarmer, out-boxer, slugger and boxer-puncher, Its pretty rare to find a boxer with all these…yes Kpakpo Allotey is such a package.

Nicknamed ‘the Punisher,’ the versatile power puncher has twelve fights to his credit, no losses and nine by way of knockouts.

Four years in professional boxing and 7 years in amateur has seen the Jamestown native move from Lotto Gold Boxing Gym to the famous Bronx Boxing Gym under Ghana’s most experienced protege Lawrence Carl Lokko.

Kpakpo Allotey aka ‘The Punisher’ has his eyes set on the super lightweight crown in the next twelve months.

“I have proved my self in Ghana, and I am now hoping to prove myself in Africa and the world soon.” Kpakpo Allotey confidently articulated.

Kpakpo’s next hurdle is against Robert Quaye, also undefeated on Baby Jet Promotions maiden promotional debut as one of the undercards.

When quizzed on his upcoming bout against Robert Quaye, he answered in the affirmative.

“I want to prove a point and show people that am still the number one contender in Ghana.
I am not afraid of any challenger and after this bout I want WBO Africa then the world title.” He stated confidently.

For a fighter who attempts to overwhelm his opponent by applying constant pressure, it is not by chance that he commands massive support from the locals.

The 24 year old young man has a lot of character, conditioning and confidence. My first impression of him was one of a shy type but gradually he erupted like a volcano during my interview.

In his final words, Kpakpo took time to appreciate his manager

“I will like to thank my handlers especially Jacob Zwennes for his faith in me.” Kpakpo eloquently retorted.

“My plea to my fans is to be disciplined on the fight day and pray for me, I love the love they have shown me.” He continued.

Many are oblivious that Kpakpo’s Grandmother Georgina Pappoe Allotey was once a boxer. Yes…It runs in the family.

In my quest to unleash Ghana’s next boxing star, I pounced on this humble, hard working athlete in Nathaniel Kpakpo Allotey.

Ghana’s next boxing star who is definitely about to set the super lightweight division of world boxing on FIRE.
