MOUTTAKI TO DEFEND TITLE

Morocco’s world bronze medallist Yasmine Mouttaki has confirmed she will be in Kinshasa to defend her minimumweight title.

“I will come to Kinshasa for sure to fight for my title,” Mouttaki told me in a telephone interview from Casablanca.

“I’m yet to know my opponents but I’m ready to meet anyone to show them I’m the best in Africa.”

Mouttaki, a bronze medallist in last year’s Women’s World Championships in India, first took part in the Africa Elite Championships in Brazzaville, outpointing her Algerian rival Roumaysa Boualam in the final to clinch flyweight gold.

She missed the 2022 Africa Championships in Maputo but returned in last year’s Africa Championships in Yaounde to win gold in the minimumweight category beating Algeria’s Fatiha Mansouri in the finals.

This will be the seventh edition for the women and the 22nd edition for men
