Jamestown Boxing Club has ten juvenile boxers, six of which are boys. Blessing Dzabo is one of them.
Blessing has been learning boxing for a year now. During this time, he recalled, “I have learnt blocking, movements and punching techniques.”
He is a class 2 pupil of Methodist Primary School in Accra.
According to Blessing, his motivation for learning boxing is to become strong. In his own words he said “I am learning to become strong. I want to be strong like Joeboy” .
Joeboy is a Juvenile boxer from Sea View Boxing Club who is a friend to Blessing.
Blessing maintains a daily routine; waking up every morning to school, then walks to the gym at 3:00pm when he closes from School. Training at Jamestown Boxing Club begins at 3:30pm and ends at 5:00pm. During vacations, Blessing trains 2 times daily.
Blessing was introduced to the Club by Samuel Plange
“He [Plange] is my friend and believes in my abilities. My role model in boxing is John Quaye. He is doing well and I want to be like him in future.”
Blessing is learning how to box under the guidance of Coach Ransford Amugi.
Blessing is currently waiting for his first chance to fight in a competition. You can read more about Jamestown Boxing Club here
