Black Bombers in Limbo…Financial constraints affecting team’s preparations.
The Chief Executive Officer of Streetwise Managment and doubles as the manager for Ghana’s undefeated world title prospect Duke Micah was very flabbergasted at the curent events
“what is going on? why is the National Amateur Boxing Team (The Black Bombers) struggling for funding, surely the Sports Ministry should be providing enough funds for the team to prepare for the upcoming championships to have the best possible chance of winning medals for Ghana.” He tweeted in response to the story.
The man who guided Richard Commey to achieve a world title status when he KOed Isa Chaniev from Russian in Frisco, Texas on February 2nd, later stated his firm commitment to assist the Federation after Commey’s first defense against Raymundo Beltran on June 28
“I am compelled to do something about it for the sake of the sport of boxing in Ghana, having a successful national amateur team raises the profile of the sport which in turn will run through the whole boxing fraternity and hopefully encourage corporate and personal investment to help the sport grow.” He said.
“After Richard Commey’s world title defence I will be coming to Ghana to sit down with George Lamptey and Coach Asare and see how best we can help the national team through the Streetwise Foundation which I have set up.” He expressed.
This may come as a good news for the team though much is expected of the Sports Ministry if team Ghana’s dreams of winning more laurels is to be achieved.
