Amateur boxers, especially juveniles have also served as curtain raisers for professional boxers in Ghana. The Ace Power promoted event dubbed ‘The Rise’was not an exception as it featured four youth boxers from Bukom, Sea View and Wisdom Boxing Gym.
The opportunity, according to club managers is very important given the scarcity of Amateur bouts in the country currently.
On Saturday, March 18, 2023, James Okoe battled with fellow Wisdom Boxing Gym mate David Kanezi as an opener on Ace Power Promotions event.
Majid Amidu (Bukom Boxing Gym) also battled it out with Oseni Acquay of Seaview Gym. The fans applauded the juveniles in appreciation to the skills and tactics they displayed.
Majid Amidu, who fights in the lightweight division was excited to be in the ring again. He used the opportunity to call out all fighters in the Lightweight division to watch out for him.
