Promoter Clyde Musonda says the deal is done and sealed

A major fight pitting some of Africa’s best female professional boxers has been confirmed for Harare, Zimbabwe, on August 13 this year.

Clyde Musonda of Delta Force Promotions announced today Zimbabwe’s popular female boxer Kudawashe “Take Money” Chiwandire will take on Malawi’s Ellen “The Tigress” Simwaka for World Boxing Council (WBC) Africa super-bantamweight title in Harare on August 13.

“Everything has been finalized for the fight and contracts signed, there’s more to come on the big show,” said Musonda.

Chiwandire (6-3-1,4 KOs), a former WBC interim champion, last fought in March, 2023, in Mexico against WBC super-bantamweight world champion Yemileth Mercado (22-3-0, 5 KOs) who retained her title at home on points in a hard-fought 10-round encounter.

Chiwandire had previously successfully defended her WBC interim title in October, 2022, outpointing Mexico’s Zulina Munoz at a packed Harare International Conference Centre. Delta Force Promotions organised the colourful show.

Johannesburg-based Simwaka (12-7-2, 8 KOs) last fought in August, 2023, in Auckland, New Zealand, where she vied for IBO world super-bantamweight title against the holder Mea Motu (19-0-0, 7 KOs) of New Zealand who retained her title via a controversial points decision.
