The first AIPS e-Conference, that will celebrate the World Sports Journalists Day and the 96th anniversary of AIPS, has become global.
A stunning 102 countries and more than 330 journalists confirmed their participation so far, heralding what could emerge as the most remarkable appointment for international sports journalism in the new reality shaped by Covid-19.
This global audience will find a likewise rich panel of Editors in Chief and eminent senior journalists, who will bring voices from each corner of the globe and discuss about the new challenges for within the society and the role that journalism is called to play in this mutated framework.
Title of the of the e-Conference will be “Has Covid-19 affected journalists’ independence and future?”, but other important contributions will regard Racism in sport, by the AIPS Vice President Evelyn Watta, as well as a message from IOC President Thomas Bach that will follow the ouverture by AIPS President Gianni Merlo. An open discussion will start at the end of the panel.
Such an enhanced membership and variety proves once again the solidity of the network that AIPS has been weaving since its foundation in July 1924, when the fathers of AIPS gave substance to the need of cooperation, solidarity and protection claimed by the world of sports journalism to preserve independence and safeguard their culture.
