It seems former IBF welterweight titlist, Joshua Clottey is not ready to hang his gloves following a superb performance against Tanzania’s Azizi Mponda.

On Sunday, September 22, 2019, Clottey proved too strong for Mponda as he stopped him in round nine in their welterweight contest at the Odwira Festival in Akropong.

The Bukom-born native looked solid from the start of the fight as he dropped Mponda in the second round of the clash.

He dominated Mponda by punishing his body, however, the fight was stopped in the ninth round.

The win was Clottey’s second since making a return to the ring after being away for almost two years.

In his return after that long layoff, Clottey defeated Mfauma Mfauma via TKO in round 8 on March, 8, 2019, at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra.

With the win, Clottey has thus improved to 41-5 (24 KO).

In the other fight, George Ashie proved that he has got the power to put any fighter to sleep.

The Ghanaian destroyed Vincent Mbilinyi in their lightweight showdown.

Ashie has then extended his fight record to 30-5-1 (22 KOs).
