Jessie Lartey, a member of the national boxing team who missed the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and an Officer of the Ghana Prison Service has qualified for new Black Bombers.
He won his weight division at the recent National Individual Championship.
The tough competition saw him beating Omar Wahid Omar of Wisdom Gym at the semifinal.
Jessie Lartey retained his place as the National Amateur Welterweight Champion, and now focused on the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham this year and Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.
He represented Ghana at the 2018 Commonwealth Games winning a Bronze Medal.
His brother, Jerry Lartey is also the newly crowned national light welterweight amateur champion and inductee to the “Black Bombers” Elite National Team. Jerry has an incredible amateur record, with his skillful mastery of the pugilist art, and also as a Soldier in the Ghana Army will be an added credit to the National Team.
