The ‘Black Flash’ Jesse Manyo Plange (19-0-1, 15KOs) is set to welcome into the square ring today at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra Ghana Nigeria’s Sheriff Kareem (9-1,7KOs) in place of John Chuwa as originally billed.

A silver medalist at the 7th All-Africa Games and former captain of the Black Bombers, is inching closer to his dream of securing the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Global super flyweight strap as he commences his journey against the self styled “Lecturer” born in Lagos, Nigeria.

Sheriff Kareem is a former Nigeria Bantamweight titlist and the West African Boxing Union Bantamweight champion, a title he secured in 2012 against a Ghanaian challenger in Galley Cudjoe. He later defended his belt back to back in a four consecutive victories for 5 years before going inactive in 2017.

Like Manyo Plange, Sheriff Owolabi Kareem made his professional debut early 2005 when he was just 16 years and his solitary defeat came on his debut to Yaqub Kareem when he lost on points but later redeemed himself in the rematch when he brutally KOed Kareem in round 6 at National Stadium, Indoor Sports Hall , Lagos, Nigeria in 2006.

“Yes, Manyo Plange is fighting a very difficult boxer from Nigeria called Sherriff Kareem. A very tough fighter as a direct replacement to John Chuwa.” Abdul Samad Mohammed, Monyo’s manager told BoxingGhana.

Undoubtedly, Manyo, arguably one of  Ghana’s hottest undefeated prospects that the nation is banging it’s hopes on for a potential world title shot later in the year must brace himself for perhaps the toughest fight of his career after his peerless performances against Michael Dasmarinas, Emmanuel Otoo and Edward Kambasi in his last three encounters.

The fight is a co-feature to Wasiru Mohammed- John Amuzu battte for supremacy in the former’s first defense of his WBO Global strap won against the tough Tanzanian Loren Japhet on Saturday 29, June 2019 at the Accra Sports Stadium, Accra, Ghana.

This second edition of the “Bukom Fist of Fury” boxing league, has a focus on extending the competition to the various regions for wider participation and coverage.
