Super middleweight star Jaime Munguia returns TONIGHT against unbeaten contender Erik Bazinyan in the 12-round main event at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.
Munguia (43-1, 34 KOs), one of Mexico’s most beloved and decorated fighters, hopes to rebound following May’s decision defeat to Canelo Alvarez. Bazinyan (32-0-1, 23 KOs) is an 11-year pro making his first American appearance in nearly five years.
In the eight-round heavyweight co-feature, Olympic silver medal standout Richard Torrez Jr. (10-0, 10 KOs) fights Philadelphia-born veteran Joey Dawejko (28-11-4, 16 KOs).
Junior welterweight prospect Emiliano Fernando Vargas (11-0, 9 KOs) opens the three-fight ESPN broadcast in an eight-rounder versus upset-minded Irishman Larry Fryers (13-6-1, 5 KOs).
Munguia-Bazinyan, Torrez-Dawejko, and Vargas-Fryers will be broadcast live on ESPN, ESPN Deportes, and ESPN+ at 10:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. PT.
The ESPN+-streamed undercard begins at 6:15 p.m. ET/3:15 p.m. PT and includes a 10-round junior lightweight clash between unbeaten Filipino Charly Suarez (17-0, 9 KOs) and Texas-born puncher Jorge Castañeda (17-3, 13 KOs). Lightweight prospect Alan “Kid Kansas” Garcia (14-0, 11 KOs) will take on the durable Ricardo Fernandez (15-13, 1 KO) at a catchweight of 138 pounds, while junior bantamweight phenom Steven “Kid Dynamite” Navarro (3-0, 2 KOs) aims to notch another knockout against Oscar Arroyo (3-2, 2 KOs) in a six-rounder.
