Former WBA World welterweight champion, Ike ‘Bazooka’ Quartey, has revealed that the only boxer close in winning a World title for Ghana is Isaac Dogboe.
Dogboe will be challenging Jessie Magdaleno on April 14th in Las Vegas for the Mexican WBO World super bantamweight belt.
In two weeks, two Ghanaian boxers in their bid to win Ghana’s eight World title failed to achieve that feat.
Habib Ahmed challenged Gilberto Ramirez for the latter’s WBO World super middleweight belt, but the Ghanaian was stopped in round six.
Maxwell Awuku battled WBC World super featherweight Miguel Berchelt champion, however, Awuku was blasted out in the third round.
And Quartey says, Dogboe is the only boxer that can win a World title for Ghana.
“The only boxer now that can win a World title for Ghana is Isaac Dogboe,”Quartey told Accra-based Joy FM.
