At Grand Casino in Hinckley, Isaac “The Royal Storm” Dogboe secured a 10 round split decision victory over Joet Gonzalez in a very close to call fight.

The Ghanaian was peerless in the first three rounds with his combinations and fighting from the inside but an unsuspected overhead hook from Gonzalez staggered him and even though he was smartly able to finish the round, it took a toll on him.

As at round 8, the scores was equalled but a strong comeback backed by the timeous insipid words from his coach Barry Hunter energized Dogboe to victory.

The fight was a WBC Featherweight final eliminator which now sets Dogboe up for a world title shot. The self styled ‘Royal Storm’ is now the WBO international titlist which was previously held by his nemesis Joet Gonzalez.

Dogboe is now in line for both the WBC Featherweight world title held by the champion Rey Vargas and also the WBO title which is set to be vacated by Emanuel Navarrete.
