Right after the circulation of the former WBA Welterweight champion of the World Ike ‘Bazooka’ Quartey’s recent picture hit the internet, many started to speculate the former world champion is engaged in substances that is attributing to his current looks.

In an interview with various media platforms, Ike Quartey disclosed his displeasure about the falsehood spread against him and in anguish made known he is ready to take on anyone who is behind this act.

“It took me years of training and sleepless nights to make the name i have made for myself. I am a national icon and a boxing great, I love my wife and I love my children, why would I do drugs?, I have never engaged in any illegal substance and i have never considered any.” said Ike.

With majority of the media quick to publish, Ike ‘Bazooka’ Quartey challenged for the media to do due diligence before putting out information as it may go a long way to tarnish a decade built reputation.

“My doors have never been closed to the media, so if you hear something you can come to me or call me and ask me what is going on before you put the information out there for the world to see. I have been a world champion, I have a business to take care of and I have invested huge sums of money to building an ultra modern hospital in Ghana. I do not have time for drugs and I am going to see my lawyer to sue whoever is behind this. If I decide to let my hair grow, it does not mean I am on drugs or I am broke.” fumed Ike.

As he continued to entreat the media to stop this kind of journalism that is only targeted at tarnishing the image of icons who have made name for Ghana, they should rather look at the good works they are currently doing.
