I will knock out Otake – WBO Champ Dogboe

Isaac ‘Royal Storm’ Dogboe who defends his WBO junior featherweight title against Hidenori Otake of Japan in Glendale, Arizona, USA on Saturday 25 August has revealed to the media how he will make his first defence.

Speaking at a packed Press Conference at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra before leaving for the USA, he said though his opponent is a tough and avoidable boxer, he will face him and prove to the world that he is the best in the world in the division.

“I will knock out Otake, he is a compact boxer like me, most champions avoid him, but I will knock him. He has 36 fights, 31 wins, 37 years old, he has 14 Kos, 2 loses, 3 draws and has not lost in the last 4 years. He is a dangerous fighter, very deadly right hand, we will take him by the basis. We will correct the mistakes in out last fight against Magdaleno and do it better this time” he told Yours Truly.

Dogboe, (19 – 0 – 0) who was bidding farewell to his fans and the media said the WBO title is for him and would fight and defend it, and keep it for a long time.

His dad and trainer, Paul Dogboe said his son has come to to put Ghana Boxing back on the map of sports, and his mission is to prove that boxing is not for drop outs, but boxing is a graceful sport that can unify the nation.

According to Paul Dogboe he has decided to train his son alongside his 13 year old junior brother called Joshua who is heavier and would be a terror in the near future as they build the Dogboe boxing dynasty.

Paul Dogboe who was honoured by the Sport Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) two years ago disclosed that his son is a patriot who has come to help the youth of Ghana to love God and education.

Dr. Donald Agumenu and Ellis Quarshigah who are members of Team Dogboe appealed to corporate Ghana to support the champion as there are many benefits in rallying behind the international brand.

Nana Akyea Akyere, who is in charge of the the sponsorship drive for Team Dogboe said so far some individuals and companies have come on board, but their doors are still open as the project is big with a bright future.

In attendance at the Press Conference was the mother of Isaac Dogboe who said a prayer for victory.

The Dogboe versus Otake fight is being promoted by Top Rank and would be shown live on ESPN as well as on the RSAP’s APP on android mobile phones.
