Ghana’s premier boxing portal BoxingGhana.com decided to get the version of astute boxing trainer Lawrence Carl Lokko on the current impasse between himelf and his former protege Duke Micah.
Carl is currently in the states with Frederick Lawson preparing for the semi finals of the Jose Sulaiman World invitational tournament to be staged in Canada.
But early this week, Duke Micah released a video accusing his former coach of thievery and questioning his competence
“He is spoiling my name in America. You’ve gone telling people you won’t work with me anymore. If you won’t work with me anymore go, why are you spoiling my name? Go home and train a boxer from scratch and see if it’s easy.” Duke Micah alleged.
The current WBC champ who competed in the Men’s flyweight division in boxing at the 2012 Summer Olympics then proceeded by saying
“You conspire with people to swindle me, telling me there’s no money after I’ve fought. You’ve squandered my money and you’re telling me you’ll curse me? If I was your son would you treat me that way? Even you, who go about perpetrating vice and stealing people’s money God hasn’t betrayed you, but you’re betraying me. Who doesn’t want to enjoy the fruits of his labour?” Duke rhetorically questioned.
But such is a comment Carl Lokko takes exception to
“I work with his managers. I don’t know the people he’s even talking about. I don’t control funds, I don’t control monies. I don’t deal with his contracts. so why me?
Like I said my Lawyers are working on it already so I don’t want to say much.” Carl Lokko stated.
Truth be told, Carl Lokko was willing to let things go but for the invective tirade spewed by his former protege Duke Micah especially calling him a “thief.” Hence the decision to go to court.
