Wasiru ‘Gyatabi’ Mohammed has finally being given the WBO Africa Super Bantamweight strap after defeating the then Champion Isaac Sackey via a technical knockout in October last month.

Undefeated Wasiru Mohammed now has an enviable record of  (11-0, 9 KOs). During the ceremony which was held at the Alisa Hotel located at North Ridge in Accra-Ghana yesterday , the now WBO Africa super Bantamweight champion expressed his willingness to grant his nemesis the chance for a rematch.

“I want to say this again, I am ready for a rematch if ever Isaac Sackey demands it. I don’t even care the venue, I just want him to call for a rematch.” Wasiru told BOXINGGHANA.Com.

The undefeated Africa champion stated his eagerness to end  the fight much earlier than the previous encounter.

“I gave him (Isaac Sackey) a lot of respect in the other bout but the second time, is going to be different, because this time am going to finish him much quicker than the last time and without a shred of doubt.” Wasiru bullishly retorted.

The stage is set for another match-up should Sackey make-the-call but one thing is certain, the odds favour Wasiru for his skill, power punching, ring generalship and total completeness in his boxing artistry.

Indeed the last time the two boxers met, there was absolute chaos at the Bukom Boxing Arena when the referee from Benin, Adom Betin had to stopped the fight half-way in the third round after Wasiru floored the defending champion Isaac Sackey.

Sackey visited the canvas via an awkward knockdown which precipitated the referees to call the fight to a halt, a decision most respected stakeholders believe it was spot on.

Deservedly, the WBO Africa has finally ruled the decision as right and Wasiru the deserving champion without a doubt.
