Ghanaian and WBO Africa titlist Emmanuel Tagoe (29-1,14 KOs) has stated his confidence in defending his belt and winning the vacant International Boxing Federation International Lightweight strap against Russian Vyacheslav Gusev (25-5, 8KOs) on Saturday, January 26 at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra, Ghana.

When BoxingGhana’s correspondent Derek Nii Asai Ankrah visited the Jamestown native at his training camp The Gym, adjacent Osikan Beach in Accra, the current WBO Africa Lightweight Champion Emmanuel Tagoe emphatically stated how focused he is towards the bout.

“I am focusing on my training regime. I want to be well conditioned for the fight. Nothing short of a win is what await Ghanaians.”

Contrary to claims by some media outlets, the self styled GameBoy refuted the claim of his prediction to KO his Russian opponent in the round of 7.

He told BoxingGhana of his confidence in his abilities to carry the day but refused making any prediction.

“I am going to win the fight for sure but no predictions. I have trained for the mandated 12 rounder but the ring and nature of the match will determine the outcome.” The WBO Africa lightweight champ Said.

The Asamoah Gyan fight Night 1 was a huge success which saw Ghana’s Tagoe retiring the experienced Namibian and a former world champion in Moses Paulus when he won by a UD.

Asamoah Gyan Fight Night 2 is expected to be a sellout and will see Emmanuel Tagoe pitting himself against Vyacheslav Gusev come this Saturday.

Emmanuel Tagoe is set to move the  states after the bout to join fellow countryman and world title contender Richard Commey after signing a promotional deal with DiBella Entertainment last year.
