“I am going to make Ghana proud”- Patrick Allotey promises ahead of Kapia fight.

WBO Africa Super Welterweight Champion Patrick Allotey is set to face former African Boxing Union Welterweight Titlist Eric Kapia on Saturday the 10th of August at the Sports Hall, Accra Sports Stadium in Accra-Ghana.

BoxingGhana caught up with the self styled ‘Sweet Arrow’ whose gifted skillset and resume is arguably peerless in Africa and one of the very best in the golden era of the star packed Welterweight world division.

Que: Champ, How true is it that you are fighting this weekend?

Ans: Yes, I am fighting a Congolese called Eric Kapia.

Que: How prepared are you?

Ans: As a boxer you are always battle ready though I must admit that this one the scheduling and everything came too early. I’m prepared, though not like the previous bouts. But not to worry, I am going to make Ghana proud.

Que: What is the ambition after this fight?

Ans: This one is a warm-up fight for me because after this fight am eyeing the world title shot.”

The Jamestown native, Allotey is defendng his WBO belt against highly regarded Democratic Republic Of The Congo opponent, 27 year old Eric Kapiaalias Dax Joli-Coeur. The Congolese has 28 professional bouts in 181 rounds of boxing with a record (22-3-2,4 KOs).

Eric Kapia Mukadi Mulumba last two defeats was inflicted by South Africa’s Thulani Mbenge who recently lost his title in Germany and Shaun Ness.

Kapia’s recent outing was against Russian Vaghinak Tamrazyan (16-5, 5KOs) on 30th March, 2019 but lost via a unanimous decision.

Patrick Allotey’s stats speaks for itself (40-3, 30KOs), though facing a boxer with a slight height advantage. The Ghanaian has defended his World Boxing Organisation Africa Super Welterweight strap back to back with some incredible fashion.

With his 43 career bouts and 220 rounds of boxing action, the Ghanaian is full of experience and confidence going into the bout on Saturday.

Undeniably, the odds  favour the Ghanaian with his complete package of skills, speed, power and work ethic come Saturday August 10.
