Ghana’s WBO Africa Heavyweight champion Richard Nii Lartey Harrison made it a14th career victory at the expense of the tough talking Morris Okola from Kenya early this morning at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra -Ghana.
Richard Harrison Lartey (14-1, 11 KOs) made a promising start from the first round in a titanic duel that saw him using more jabs with occasional power combinations that unsettled his opponent Morris Okola.
Truth be told, Okola (10-3, 10KOs) gave the Ghanaian a run for his money in the early exchanges with his straight hooks to the body. But that threat got nullified when Harrison adopted and decided to box.
As the torrid rounds wore on, the Kenyan became stamina suspect. He got hurt in almost all the rounds especially in the penultimate round before finally succumbing to Harrison via a 10th round Technical Knockout.
In the other contest, Patrick Allotey defended his crown successfully against Sheriff Kasongo of the Democratic Republic Of Congo on points in one of the most hotly contested fight.
Emmanuel Quaye failed to glitter on the night when he succumbed to a UD Daniel Aduku.
The occasion was graced by very important personalities like John Mahama, former president of Ghana, and Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye.
