GPBL FIGHT NIGHT 4: Prisons Service falls to Charles Quartey Boxing Foundation

The Ghana Professional Boxing League returned over the weekend for the 4th night of Season 2. The event was held on Sunday the 23rd of April, 2023 at the usual venue, the Bukom Boxing Arena, Accra.

Organizers Imax Media Promotions in collaboration with the Ghana Boxing Authority dedicated the event to the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr. Osumanu Nuhu Sharubutu who turned 104 years old on Sunday, wishing all Muslims a Happy Eid al-Fitr over the weekend.

The 2-star-studded night included surprise appearance by highly acclaimed Ghana rapper Sarkodie, sensational musician Kofi Kinata, Bukom Banku and Bastie Samir.

The event featured 8 bouts, including 2 special bouts.

Charles Quartey Boxing Foundation and Ghana Prisons Service Boxing Gym set off the night in bout 1. Emmanuel Mawuli battled hard with Ishmael Commey to take home the win for Charles Quartey Boxing Foundation.

 

The second bout of the night was a Super Middleweight fight between Shakul Samed of Akotoku Boxing Club and Francis Mensah of SeaView Boxing Gym. Shakul knocked out a very scared Francis in 2min 23 seconds to claim an early victory.

 

Isaac Neequaye (Bronx Boxing Gym) and The Gym’s Shadrack Kofi contested in a 6 round Welterweight contest. Neequaye landed a liver shot to conclude their bout in the opening round.

 

The rest of the night results are as follows;

Cann Neequaye won over Lukeman to improve his record to 2 wins.

John Quaye won with a round 4 TKO in his fight against Bernard Adzewoda.

Favor Mensah had a unanimous decision victory over Patrick Kodjoe.

Bridge Foundation and the Ghana Armed Forces shared the points as their bout was declared a draw.

Fit Square’s Elvis Ahorgah won over Seconds Outs’ Atupika Amulga in the second round.

 

The fans were entertained on the night by musician Adote Titor.

Bukom Banku advised the fans to be more disciplined as their actions will affect the brand.

Boxing fans observed a minute silence for Issah Samir Snr, the father of Shakul Samed.
