The Ghana Professional Boxing League returned last Saturday night at the Bukom Boxing Arena with scores of boxing fans cheering on their favourite boxers. Despite the early rains, the fight night started at 10:00pm instead of 9:30 pm on previous nights.

The popular boxing series attracted several dignitaries, including legendary musician Amandzeba and Ghanaian promoter Emmanuel Quaye.

Fans came in their numbers, and by the second round of the first bout, the Azumah Nelson and D. K Poison stands were full to capacity. Ringside areas were also filled up by boxing stakeholders.

Once the bell rang for seconds out, the stands turned into a dance floor with fans dancing to the music being played at the event.

The last round of bout 1 was the deciding round when David Tagoe came out gun blazing to steal the win in their closely contested bout; David Tagoe fought for Sea View Boxing against Black Panthers’ Isaac Aryeetey in a Super flyweight contest over 6 rounds. The judges scored the bout in this manner; 54-60, 58-56 and 58-57.

The night was expected to feature 8 bouts, however, only 6 bouts happened. The two bouts were cancelled because of weight issues.

Charles Quartey Boxing Foundation’s Erasmus Anum lost to Armed Forces’ LCP John Yinkah in a Cruiserweight contest and same as Wisdom Boxing Gym’s Sampson Jarah to Seconds Out Gym’s Moses Kweku in their bout.
