GO! MANGOLA. MATCHMAKER SOLOMON OTOO MAKING WAVES IN THE BOXING INDUSTRY

Nicknamed Mangola or betterstill Otoo Mangola, Solomon Otoo Lartey is a professional matchmaker based in Accra-Ghana.

It is said that the people who know more about boxers than anyone in this business are arguably Matchmakers.

Well, Solomon Otoo ‘Mangola’ made his matchmaking debut in 2008 at the Lebanon House with Sikaprix Boxing Promotion and has since not looked back as his livelihood depends on his ability to project well the capabilities of boxers day in and day out.

Otoo has done a lot of matchmaking for Box Office Promotions – under Alex Ntiamoah-Boakye.

One such event was at Accra Sports Stadium, Accra, Ghana.

Commissioned by the Ghana Boxing Authority with the promoter being Box Office Promotions, Alex Ntiamoah-Boakye matched up Abdul Malik Jabir versus Daniel Tindana,

Emmanuel Clottey versus Joe Nyame, Prosper Ankrah versus Kofi Atanga, and so on, on March, 5, 2011.

His most recent works are the Bliss on the Hills (Kwahu Republic) in collaboration with Azumah Nelson Boxing Promotions at Abetifi- Kwahu, which featured Braimah Kamoko aka Bukom Banku against the Nigerian Kabiru. Indeed his co-matchmaker of the event was the self styled “Believer” Abdul Rasheed Williams.

Again he was the matchmaker for Dons Boxing Promotions bout dubbed “Clash of Titans” which featured France Ramabolu of South Africa versus Ghana’s Obodai Sai as well as Vincent Mbilinyi versus Robert Quaye.

He has done a lot of matchmaking for the (BIBA) British and Irish Boxing Authority which includes the recent matchups between Daniel Adjei Sowah and Nathan Decastro, Tackie Annan against Scott Harrison and many others hence BIBA’s decision to award him.

The flip side of the matchmaking job is that, if they make a mistake, it can severely damage a boxer’s career or the matchmaker’s career, so its important to get it right at least most of the times.

Solomon Otoo is perhaps Ghana’s version of Carl Moretti of DiBella Entertainment and Bruce Trampler of Top Rank.

From us here at boxingghana.com, we say congratulations to Solomon Otoo Lartey better known as “Otoo Mangola”
