Ghislain Vodounhessi is going to see why they call me ‘The Emperor’ – Daniel Gorsh

Swavy Blu Boxing Promotions, in collaboration with Legacy Promotions and Shiats3 Promotions, is set to stage a WBO Africa championship boxing event next week, August 24 at the TreeHouse Restaurant, Nyaniba, Accra.

It’s going to be a Ghana versus Benin affair as the headline bout featuring Daniel “Emperor” Gorsh against Ghislain Vodounhessi from Benin. At stake will be the vacant WBO Africa Bantamweight title which according to records was last held by former IBO world champion Joseph “King Kong” Agbeko.

In an exclusive interview with the UBO Africa Super Bantamweight champion Daniel Selasie Gorsh (12-0, 9KOs), the Emperor revealed his ambition as a professional boxer; to “get Ghana a world title”.

In a quest to conquer the world, Gorsh must convincingly do justice to his Beninois counterpart Ghislain Vodounhessi (25-2, 23KOs), a more experienced opponent who has an incredible knockout ratio of 92% to his credit.

Vodounhessi suffered his last defeat at the hands of Ghana’s Wasiru “Gyata Bi” Mohammed on 31st January2020 at the Bukom Boxing Arena,, which was his only knockout defeat. Wasiru won the WBO Global Super Bantamweight title with a round 4 knockout victory.

The Cotonou-born pugilist, in his entire 27 professional fights, has only tasted just 1 loss of an undefeated opponent, which ended in a KO defeat to Wasiru Mohammed. His next fight against Daniel Gorsh is going to be his second fight against an opponent who’s never tasted defeat.

Daniel Gorsh, when quizzed in an exclusive interview with BoxinGhana.com Managing Chief Editor, Samuel Ofosuhene, how well he knows his opponent Vodounhessi, he replied
“Oh, not much. But when we get into the ring, he is going to see why they call me Emperor.”

Gorsh on what his fans should expect:
“Always they know what I can do. When I am in the ring, I’m the king, so when I get into the ring, I let everyone know I am the king.”

With the fight looking so tight, Daniel Gorsh has a slight advantage, looking at the age difference where Daniel Gorsh (24 years) is much younger than Vodounhessi, who is 39 years old.
