Ghanain Boxing Icon, Isaac ‘The Royal Storm’ Dogboe and his team paid a courtesy call on the Director General of the National Sports Authority, Professor Peter Twumasi at his office on Tuesday, December 21, 2021.
The purpose of the visit was to officially thank tge NSA boss for his support and to celebrate the victory of the Champion in his last bout.
Speaking at the meeting, Dogboe’s legal Council expressed his gratitude to the Director for the support and expressed hope the relationship with the NSA will continue to linger on for better achievements in the future.
Isaac Dogboe in his submission, equally thanked the Director and acknowledge the Authority for all the support he has received on his career journey.
The former world champions also disclosed that he now ranks as 2nd contender in his division and that is a victory for Ghana.
He emphasized on the need for the youth to be encouraged as there are raw talents to be unleashed from the grassroots, stating that it takes discipline, focus and a lot of hard work to get to the stardom and wish he can be emulated as a good role model for the youth.
Dogboe went on to appeal to the Authority to bring on board Nutritionist that will educate the athletes through the transitional stages in diet thus getting them prepared ahead of any game.
He also mentioned that the mass of the youth need a voice hence needs the right people to tame them.
The fighter also recounted how fortunate he was to have the like of the legendary Azumah Nelson and Ike Quartey around him.
He also called on Ghana to consider hosting professional bouts which will put the country on the front line in amateur boxing and also get the right attention to the world.
Prof. Twumasi on his part commended Dogboe and congratulated him for making the nation proud before appealing to the champion to be attached to the brand of NSA as many youth emulate him as an icon and will be a source of inspiration to the grassroots and likewise promote the agenda of sports in Ghana.
The NSA boss also stated that the Authority in collaboration with UHAS have nutritionist that assist the athletes but will still make a conscious effort to widen that scope to reach out to other athlete.
Speaking at the meeting, the Communications Manager for the Team, Nana Akyere Agyako, equally suggested that the Authority bring up representatives that will be present during such bout as a way of support.
