USA based Ghanaian female boxer, Sathoud Ornella lost 5-0 to Mardi Khadija of Tunisia in her first match at the 12th African Games in Morocco in the Women’s 75 kg category.
Though the bout was close the judges gave the decision to Mardi Khadija who fought hard using the strategy of moving forward and pressuring her opponent.
The Ghanaian who is based in the USA said after the fight:
“Didn’t get the win, so I’m out of the tournament. But I’m grateful and blessed to have received all the support to make it this far and for this amazing experience. Back to the lab and drawing board, got to learn from my mistakes. Thanks to my family for the unlimited and unconditional support. Thanks to my sponsors Drop Squad Kitchen and Warrior Box. Thanks to my teammates from Ghana and team MVJ. Thanks to friends that are like family. This is not the end of the road. Next goal is the Olympic qualifiers in Senegal God willing” she said to encourage the team.
Two Ghanaian boxers have managed to enter the medal zone. They are hard working skipper Suleimana Tetteh the flyweight fighting at 52 kg and sensational Wahid Omar who is very determined to grab the gold.
