“I am honored and humbled to received this award. As i do so, I wish to recognize all the ladies and gentlemen here tonight. I started at the now El-wak sports stadium in 1944 – 1945…with the likes of Jack Wallet, Attuquaye Clottey and so on. I dropped out of Abuakwa State College…….I accept this award on behalf of my family and all seated here including my girlfriend.” Ambassador Ray Quarcoo retorted with a great sense of humor.
The man who single-handedly sponsored the air tickets and provided lodging for former WBO champion Isaac Dogboe, Norris Thompson, Joshua Buatsi and many others was indeed very happy and grateful for the love shown.
