Wasiru Mohammed, the WBO Africa and Global Superbantam weight title holder, Manyo Plange Plange Africa’s finest and WBC International Bantamweight champion, Duke Micah are three boxers Ghanaians and Africans must look up to for the future.

Though they are in the lower weight classes, they are really exciting in the ring and they are very impressive.

Wasiru Mohammed aka ‘Gyata Bi’ and Manyo Plange are based in Ghana, while Duke Micah is in campaigning in the USA.

What makes them special is that they are undefeated and are hungry for honours.

They also do not joke with their profession as boxers and are eager to become the best and on top as world champions.

The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) has been monitoring their progress and believes they are the hope for the future of Ghana Boxing.

Duke Micah 22- 0 – 0, 19 KOs won his last fight in the USA, and he was in his usual fine form as he defeated his opponent easily.

Manyo Plange, 17 – 0 – 0 needs the opportunity to be exposed on big platforms to gain the attention and attraction.

Wasiru Mohammed, 12 – 0 – 0, 10KOs  seems to be in good hands under E & J Promotions and Management who are trying to put him in the ranks and get him rated among the world best.

Ghanaian boxing fans have been yearning for durable and fine boxers, especially champions who can continue from where the top 10 left.

Currently Ghana boasts of 10 boxers who have won world boxing titles. They are David Kotey aka Poison, Samual Azumah Nelson aka ‘The Professor, Ike ‘Bazooka’ Quartey, Alfred ‘Cobra’ Kotey, Marvelous Nana Yaw Konadu, Joshua ‘Hitter’ Clottey, Joseph Agbeko aka ‘ The Fresh King Kong’, Emmanuel Tagoe aka ‘Game Boy’, Isaac ‘Royal Storm’ Dogboe and Richard ‘Azonto’ Commey.

What makes Ghana special in boxing is that our boxers have tasted the World Boxing Council (WBC), World Boxing Association (WBA), World Boxing Organisation (WBO), International Boxing Federation (IBF) and International Boxing Organisation (IBO) titles.

Recently popular cruiserweight boxer, Braimah Kamoko aka ‘Bukom Banku’ fought and won in London. He brought home the World Boxing Union (WBU) International title.

On a sad note, Patrick Allotey aka ‘Poisonous Arrow’ could not annex the WBO super welterweight title plus the WBC Mayan title belts, to become Ghana’s 11th world  champion when he was beaten by a tough Mexican.

The lesson learnt is that of late it is note easy to grab the world title. Our boxers must train hard to be tougher and stronger.

Our coaches must be on top of the game to produce new champions.

The boxers must be motivated psychologically, physically, financially and morally to be in the right championship conditions for victory.
