Ghana Boxing Authority through it’s Communications Directorate has in a press release issued a note of reminder to all its key stakeholders to renew their licenses with the Authority.

The release dated 11th February has instructed its key members, that is, boxers, trainers, managers, promoters, match-makers, Referees, judges and ring announcers to “as a matter of urgency proceed ahead to renew their licenses.

The release also cautions all its key stakeholders mentioned above to renew their licenses if they want to continue to be legitimate members of the boxing governing body.

It also added, “it’s important for all stakeholders to adhere to the rules governing valid licences, expiration and renewal of licence so as to help maintain the spirit of unity between the GBA and stakeholders. Your inability to acquire a licence or renew your licence can render you as an unqualified licensee under Ghana Boxing Authority. All licensees must endeavor to renew their expired licences to avoid any untold circumstances.”

GBA in the press release mentioned five (5) promotional syndicates who have renewed their licenses making them “qualified promoters” with the ability to stage boxing events. These are

  1. Swavy Blue Promotions

  2. Imax Media Group Promotions

  3. Fight Ready Promotions

  4. Ashongman Boxing Promotions, and

  5. Hype Promotions

This means, the major known promoters like Ace Power Promotions, Box Office Sports, Cabic Promotions, etc are yet to renew their licenses.
