GBF President assures Joseph Awinongya Jnr their full support.

Joseph Awinongya Jnr., the twelve-year (12) old sensational American juvenile boxer with a Ghanaian decent has caught the eyes of many big boxing names in Ghana boxing fraternity like Alhaji Innusah Sally, a philanthropist, Professor Azumah Nelson the celebrated sole Ghanaian boxing hall of fame personality, Carl Lokko a trainer and assistant technical director of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) and many others.

The latest to commend Awinongya Jnr is the President of the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF), George Lamptey.

Mr. Lamptey highly praised the young pugilist for a sterling achievement in winning seven (7) times national champion in the 90lbs division, two (2) times junior olympic champion and many state awards.

“The GBF will support Awinongya which ever way we can to push his young carrier to the level of winning world titles” Mr. Lamptey said.

The President also committed to the fact that they will keep constant communication with Joseph Awinongya the father of Joseph Awinongya Jnr to monitor his progress, give opportunity to the youngster by possibly making an appearance at the All African games in the future to give him continental experience.

He was quick to add that they will work together to get the national team an exchange program in America to prepare the team. “The boy’s achievement is an inspiration for Federation, therefore we have resolved to work with Joseph Awinongya in pursuing a training tour for the national team [Black Bombers] in America in preparation for future competitions. Mr. Lamptey expressed.
