Vying for the flagship award on the night is SAMUEL TAKYI (Featherweight) Ghana’s sole medalist (bronze) and Africa’s only boxing medal winner at the Tokyo2020 Olympics games.

The Ring Warrior as Takyi is known in the boxing landscape, could easily brush aside his other competitors in that category- the national 4×100m relay team(athletics) and footballer Daniel Afriyie Barnieh of Accra Hearts of Oak who also performed creditably in the years under review but can’t be compared with the global and continental feats of the Ring Warrior in the 2020/21 sporting seasons.

He by default the nominated Amateur Boxer of the year which will mount the podium for before being crowned with the top most honour to climax the event.

GBF Technical Director and Bombers Head Coach, Ofori Asare also stands tall to clinch the Coach of the Year in the years under review from the other nominees and will also received the SWAG award for Dedication and Valour with his commitments, sacrifice, knowledge and services to the development of Ghana Boxing at all levels.

Ghana Boxing Federation President, Mr George Lamptey is also the favourite to win the Sporting Administrator of the year from host of his fellow managers of the game whose contributions counts less compared to the GBF leader’s as epitomized in the global laurels chalked by the Black Bombers.

Also, in line for recognition at the mega event is the Ghana Boxing Federation, who have the mandate to Develop, Promote, Sanction and Regulate activities of Kids,Juveniles and Amateur Boxing in the country besides the limited resources at their disposal and other challenges confronting other sporting activities in Ghana other than football.
